Student Demographics

Rider University enrolls approximately 3,200 full-time undergraduates and over 1,000 graduate students from 34 states and more than 54 countries. Approximately 5% of the student population is international students.

Student Housing Options

Undergraduate international students are guaranteed housing for the freshman and sophomore years. We are also able to accommodate most juniors and seniors who prefer to live on campus. On-campus housing facilities include: single rooms, double rooms, suites and apartments.

For graduate and undergraduate students who prefer to live off-campus, non-University housing is available in the community of Lawrenceville, NJ.

Admission Requirements for Graduate Applicants

Admission requirements vary based on the program. However, all graduate programs require:

  • An online application for graduate study
  • $50 non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from every college or university attended submitted directly from the institution
  • A current resume
  • Other materials may include an interview, statement of aims and objectives or professional letters of recommendation.
  • Students whose native language is not English must submit results of one of the following examinations: TOEFL,IELTS, IETEP, ISE II or Duolingo. Minimum acceptable scores are: 79 (TOEFL iBT), 540 (TOEFL PBT), 6.5 (IELTS), 3.9 (ITEP), pass (ISE II) or 100 (Duolingo)

Visa Categories Offered

F-1 Student Visa for full time matriculated students.
J1 exchange student visa for short-term programs of study.

Cost of Attendance and Financial Assistance

Annual estimated cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room and board, books, and miscellaneous expenses (2023/2024):

  • Undergraduate: $54,810
  • Graduate Business: $34,870
  • Graduate Education and Liberal Arts: $31,450
  • Graduate Music: $54,810

At the undergraduate level, merit scholarships are available for qualified applicants who apply by the published scholarship deadline. Details are available at http://www.rider.edu/offices-services/finaid/scholarships-grants. Financial assistance is not generally available to graduate business or education international students. Merit-based scholarships and assistantships are typically available to graduate music students. Need-based assistance is not available to international students.

Student Activities and Campus Life

Rider offers more than 150 student clubs and organizations, including student government, academic clubs, honor societies, fraternities and sororities, intercultural groups, multicultural organizations, performing ensembles, service clubs, spiritual/religious organizations and special interest groups. Rider’s International Students Club offers on-campus activities, as well as off-campus trips and cultural activities, including plays, operas, concerts and dinners.
Rider is close to both New York City and Philadelphia – both are about an hour’s drive away and can be reached easily by bus or train. Our location also makes it easy to visit other major cities such as Boston, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Our Office of Campus Life works to sponsor trips to off-campus locations, both near and far, throughout the year.
Rider’s twenty intercollegiate sports teams participate in the MAAC Conference (Division I); athletics are also available through the University’s many club sports teams and intramural sports programs.
