Application Deadlines

Felician University admits students on a rolling admission basis. After we receive your application, you will receive a communication from the Office of International Programs. To ensure you receive a visa in time to arrive at Felician for new student orientation and the start of classes, we strongly recommend you submit your application and supporting documents by the following dates:

Felician University provides international students with the academic, moral and spiritual foundation to help you thrive both professionally and personally. We offer 60 undergraduate and graduate courses of study that include business, nursing, teacher education and the arts and sciences. Student Demographics

Felician currently has approximately 2,400 students enrolled. About 3 % of the enrollment is international from over 35 different countries. The student to faculty ratio is 15:1, allowing students a more personalized education in a nurturing environment.

Student Housing Options

Students at Felician University are welcome to live in dormitories located on campus in quiet, safe, residential Rutherford, New Jersey. Our dormitories are very safe, with security guards posted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Rooms are suite-style; two roommates share a bedroom, and 2-3 bedrooms share a common living area and bathroom. Our Residence Life department organizes frequent social activities, both on and off campus, to encourage students to get to know one another.

Admission Requirements:

First-Year & Transfer Undergraduate Students

To apply to Felician as a freshman to a bachelor’s degree program, you will need to submit the following:

  • A completed online application form. APPLY HERE
  • A $30 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Official copies of all secondary school transcripts in English.
  • An English Proficiency Exam score report
    • TOEFL- 70
    • Duolingo – 100
    • IELTS- 6
    • Other: at least a score of 480 on SAT EBRW
  • SAT/ACT scores, if available. These tests are not required from international undergraduate students but are required for nursing applicants.
  • One copy of your passport information page.
  • To obtain an I-20 for a student visa, please submit a bank statement(s) and a form signed by your sponsor and whose name appears on the bank statement.

Please note: If admitted, a credential evaluation of all foreign post-secondary school transcripts may be required to be evaluated for transfer credits. The evaluation can be submitted after a student is admitted, but before arrival on campus. We accept any service who is a member of NACES. To locate an evaluator, please visit the NACES website.

Graduate and Adult-Undergraduate Students

To apply as a graduate or adult-undergraduate student, you must submit the following:

  • A completed online application form. APPLY HERE
  • A $40 nonrefundable application fee.
  • Official copies of all secondary school transcripts in English.
  • An English Proficiency Exam score report
    • TOEFL- 79
    • Duolino – 105
    • IELTS- 6.5
  • GMAT/GRE score report, if required by your program of study.
  • Personal statement, resume, and/or letters of recommendation – please see our program requirements for details.
  • One copy of your passport information page.
  • • To obtain an I-20 for a student visa, please submit a bank statement(s) and a form signed by your sponsor and whose name appears on the bank statement. We will provide you with this after acceptance.

TOEFL/IELTS Exemptions

A TOEFL/IELTS exam is not required from an applicant who meets AT LEAST ONE of the following:

  • Graduated high school or completed at least one year at an institution at a recognized English-speaking country. Please see our Country Exemption List.
  • Earned a C or better in an English 101 course from an American university or received a score of four or higher on the AP English exam.
  • Obtained an ELS English for Academic Purposes Level 112 Completion Certificate within the past two years.
  • Other English score reports can be submitted to prove English proficiency on a case-by-case basis.

Available Scholarships for International Students

Many of our incoming international undergraduate students receive a scholarship award. We award our academic scholarships based on merit. Please note that athletic scholarships are also available for sports offered at our university. Students are automatically considered for a scholarship upon applying – no separate application is needed.

International Student Scholarship Awards

International Freshmen Scholarship: $5,000 – $20,000 per year

This scholarship is applicable toward your university tuition and is based on a complete review of your credentials.

International Transfer Scholarship: $4,000 – $20,000

This scholarship is based on a complete review of your credentials. You will be considered for a Transfer Scholarship if you:

  • Have more than 12 credits of earned university credit (foreign or domestic).
  • Have at least a 2.5 GPA in your university work.
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: $3,000 in addition to your International Transfer Scholarship

Those students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society will be awarded an additional $3,000 in their scholarship award.

Graduate Student Scholarship Award: $1,000 per year

All incoming graduate international students qualify for this $1,000 award that is applicable toward your tuition and granted each academic year through completion of your program.

Student Activities and Campus Life

Join other Felician students in exploring our many clubs and organizations, each of which features a faculty advisor to moderate the program. Our United Nations Fellowship Program, where Felician has Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status at the U.N., is committed to raising public awareness about the purposes and activities of the United Nations. If you have dreams of becoming a published writer, hone your skills in the Aspiring Authors Literary Club. Or if you’re more interested in how to give back to the community, join forces with the Service Learning Club. Interested in becoming a DJ – you can also get some hands-on media experience at the student-run radio station mentored by professionals from local radio stations. Whichever club you choose, we’ll help expand your interests. You’ll meet students and professors with similar interests, and maybe even discover passions that you’ve never considered before!
