Student Demographics
Total student enrollment is 3,000 (2,300 undergraduate and 700 graduate students).
Nearly 80% of the student body is from New Jersey, with 17% from other states and 3% from outside of the United States. More than 40 countries are represented.
ESL Program and Support Services
The Center English Language Acquisition and Culture offers programs for incoming freshmen, transfer students and adults who are learning English as an additional language or who are fluent English speakers but experience language acquisition difficulties with reading and/or writing. Additionally, the University’s Center for Advancement in Language and Learning (CALL) provides tutors and supplemental academic instruction to all Saint Peter’s University students. Trained student tutors offer assistance in writing and mathematics as well as certain specialty subjects. Help with study skills, reading improvement, and all phases of research paper development is also available. For students looking for a full time ESL program, Saint Peter’s University partners with Kaplan, FLS and ELS. Students will have to seek admission to partner ESL program providers directly.
Student Housing Options
First year student housing is available in the traditional dormitory-style residence halls that feature lounges with kitchenettes, computer labs, wireless internet access and 24-hour security. Upper-class students can choose apartment-style living with a choice of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments with private kitchens and baths. Graduate student housing is available but limited.
Admission Requirements for First Year Students
Step 1: Complete and submit ONE of these admissions applications:
Common Application OR Saint Peter’s University International Admissions Application.
All applications may be scanned, emailed, faxed or mailed back to the Office of Admission.
Step 2: Send the following documents to the Office of Admission
- Academic credentials with English translation. Transcripts must be sent directly from your secondary school, university or an EducationUSA advisor. If you are using the Common Application for submission, items should be uploaded to the Common Application but may be scanned, faxed or mailed if they are coming directly from your secondary school, university or an EducationUSA advisor. Students may be required to submit credentials to a NACES approved agency, such as WES, ECE or EP, for evaluation.
- Transfer students must provide official transcripts from all previously attended universities in addition to proof of secondary school completion. Students may be required to submit credentials to a NACES approved agency, such as WES, ECE or EP, for evaluation. Evaluations must be sent directly from the NACES evaluation provider.
- Proof of English proficiency (scores must be sent directly from testing agency.)
- TOEFL 79 IBT, 550 PBT or IELTS 6.5 overall
- TOEFL may be waived per Dean of International Enrollment. In lieu of a TOEFL or IELTS score, students may use SAT or ACT test scores to satisfy the English Language Requirement.
- Completion of ELS Language Center course with a score of 112, Kaplan Advanced Level or FLS Language Center level 15.
- Saint Peter’s University International Statement of Financial Support including proof of funding. This form may be scanned, faxed or mailed back to the Office of Admission with proof of funding.
- Short essay or personal statement (included in the application but may be sent separately).
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, school official, coach or community service coordinator. Recommendations should come directly from the recommender and may be scanned, faxed or mailed back to the Office of Admission. A SKYPE or in person interview may be used in lieu of a recommendation letter.
- Copy of valid passport page. Include a copy of your visa if you are currently on a valid visa in the United States of America.
Advance credits may be given to AP, IB and A level results.

Admission Requirements for Graduate Students
Step 1: Apply for Admission to Saint Peter’s University by filling out an online graduate application.
Application Procedures:
In addition to a completed graduate application, students must provide the following for review:
- Earned a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university or international equivalent. Transcripts must be sent directly from your secondary school, university or an EducationUSA advisor.
- Academic credentials with English Translation (if necessary) may require an evaluation from a NACES approved agency such as WES, ECE or EP for students applying from countries other than the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland or Canada. Evaluations must be sent directly from the evaluation agency.
- Proof of English proficiency (scores must be sent directly from testing agency.)
- TOEFL 79 IBT, 550 PBT or IELTS 6.5 overall.
- Completion of ELS Language Center course of 112, Kaplan Advanced Level or FLS Language Center level 15.
- Personal statement (500) words or more.
- 2–3 recommendation letters.
- Résumé.
- Saint Peter’s University International Statement of Financial Support including proof of funding. This form may be scanned, faxed or mailed back to the Office of Admission with proof of funding.
- Copy of valid passport page. Include a copy of your visa if you are currently on a valid visa in the United States of America.

Financial Assistance
International undergraduate students will be considered for merit-based scholarships based on academic performance, standardized test scores, recommendations and other evidence of merit. Official SAT or ACT test scores may be required for students wishing to be considered for our highest merit based scholarships. Student Activities and Campus Life
The Office of Student Activities seeks to educate the “whole person” through co-curricular activities that complement a student’s academic experience. The office oversees more than 50 student organizations that offer events on campus. In addition, Student Activities offers several exciting events each semester that allow students to interact, unwind, and take advantage of the NYC/metropolitan area.
