Admission Requirements for First Year Students

  • Common Application
  • Official High School Transcript –  If your transcript is not in English, please provide a certified translation
  • Test Scores (see below)
  • Essay (included on the application)
  • Two recommendation letters (one from a teacher and one from a counselor)
  • $70 USD application fee

If electing to submit standardized test scores, students may submit the following:

  • SAT I
  • ACT
  • Two AP exams: calculus and either chemistry or physics
  • Two SAT Subject tests: math and either chemistry or physics
  • International Baccalaureate predicted grades with two higher level exams scores in math and science
  • Music & Technology and Visual Arts & Technology applicants: you may submit a digital portfolio in lieu of test scores

Recognizing that standardized testing opportunities may not be available to potential applicants, and in an effort to support access to our university, Stevens Institute of Technology is extending the SAT/ACT test optional policy, with some exceptions, for Fall 2022 first year applicants.

If you are an international student (non-US Citizen, non-US Permanent Resident) applying to Stevens Institute of Technology and English is not your first language, you must demonstrate English proficiency with one of the following:

  • TOEFL (minimum 80 iBT)
  • IELTS (minimum 6.0 overall)
  • Duolingo English Test (minimum 105)
  • Pearson PTE Academic Test (minimum 53)
  • SAT I Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (minimum 550)
  • $70 USD application fee

English proficiency waivers may be granted on a case-by-case basis for international students who have studied in the US for at least 3 years from the time of application. Please contact the admissions office after submitting your application to request a waiver.

Admission Requirements for Transfer Applicants

  • Common Application
  • College transcripts from all previous colleges attended. All transcripts from foreign institutions must be accompanied by a credential evaluation report from WES, ECE, or any NACES member organization
  • Detailed syllabus for each college course taken and a completed Transfer Student Credit Evaluation Form
  • Final high school transcript with graduation date
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor
  • International transfer applicants must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the approved English proficiency tests.
  • Test optional for Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 transfer applicants

  • Completed application
  • $60 non-refundable application fee
  • Official college transcripts from all colleges attended (must be sealed, hard copy transcripts; electronic copies are not accepted)
  • Official or attested conferment of bachelor’s degree
  • Two Letters of Recommendation
  • Official GRE or GMAT Score, if applicable to the program to which you are applying
