About

Founded in 1967, Brookdale Community College is located near the Jersey Shore in Lincroft, NJ, and is situated on a former horse farm which is now a stunning 220-acre campus. Brookdale serves nearly 9,000 full and part-time students, offering associate’s degrees and certificates in 80 programs as well as noncredit classes in many areas of personal and professional interest. With outstanding academic, social, and professional opportunities, Brookdale is consistently ranked in the top community colleges in the United States. Brookdale graduates have gone on to pursue bachelor’s degrees at many of the top universities in New Jersey, around the U.S., and the world.

In addition to the college’s main campus, Brookdale operates five additional locations in Monmouth County. We also offer numerous courses online including English as A Second Language and 8 fully online degrees.

Degrees/Certificates Offered

Brookdale awards the Associates in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate of Fine Arts and Associate in Applied Science degrees. In addition, the college awards several Certificates in such fields as computing, culinary arts, automotive, to name a few.

Student Demographics

Brookdale currently enrolls nearly 9,000 full and part time students, including approximately 100 international students from over 45 countries. As an open admission community college, Brookdale serves students of all ages as well as business professionals and community members of diverse backgrounds. We want you to know that Brookdale offers a welcoming and supportive environment for all students.

ESL Program and Support Services

The College offers credit courses in English as a Second Language (in person and online). We offer six levels (three semesters) of academic ESL courses. Core classes focus on the development of grammar, writing, and speaking. Supplementary courses are also available in writing and conversation.

The International Education Center provides comprehensive services and support to international students, co-sponsors a wide range of globally themed activities and events throughout the year and works closely with the International Student Association, one of the most active clubs on campus.

Student Housing Options

Most international students reside with family members in Monmouth County or in apartments in nearby towns. Applicants who do not have a local resident to provide room and board, may arrange housing and airport pickup with one of the Homestay companies that provide housing services in the local area.

Cost of Attendance and Financial Assistance

Annual estimated cost of attendance includes tuition, fees, room and board, and miscellaneous expenses (2022-2023):

  • Tuition and Fees: $7,759
  • Living Expenses: $17,000
  • Miscellaneous: $2,000 (books and supplies)
  • For each dependent, add $4,720

Tuition and fees are subject to change. Please be aware that fees are higher for Automotive, Culinary, Nursing, Radiological Technology, and Respiratory Therapy programs. Please email international@brookdalecc.edu for details.

Student Activities and Campus Life

The Office of Student Life & Activities at Brookdale provides vibrant social, service, and entertainment opportunities for students and the community. They offer various lectures and programs by guest artists and authors, and tours and travel. Students can participate in over 50 on-campus clubs and organizations. In addition, there are a variety of recreational and athletic programs including cheerleading, baseball, basketball, cross-country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball.

Other available student services include Career and Leadership Development, Transfer Resources, Academic Advising and Counseling, Study Abroad, and Services for Persons with Disabilities.

In the years since Brookdale opened its doors, both the College and the County have grown tremendously. The 220-acre main campus today comprises 22 buildings. Examples include Larrison Hall, the Center for the Visual Arts, the Bankier Library, and the beautiful recently renovated Fitness Center and Conference & Events Center.

The campus also includes a 360-seat Performing Arts Center, an Advanced Technology Center with state-of-the art television and music studios, 10 athletic fields, the Monmouth Museum, Brookdale Public Radio, 90.5 The Night, There are 60 computer labs with about 2,000 fully networked PCs running all of today’s mainstream applications at all Brookdale locations. In addition, Brookdale has a program of loaner laptops available for student use.
