About

At Saddle River Day School we are passionately committed to preparing our students not only for college, but for life beyond formal education. We maintain small class sizes and excellent student-teacher ratios so that we can help each child realize his or her potential with confidence. We challenge each student as an individual, knowing that every person acquires skills and maturity at a different pace. At each step of growth the mind needs to encounter ideas, demands and expectations to continue a trajectory to intellectual excellence. We help our students engage in intellectual risk taking at all ages by caring deeply for them as the individuals they are and by nurturing their souls as well as challenging their minds.

We expect our students to achieve, and they do. They achieve in an atmosphere of personal care, strong student teacher bonds, and intellectual challenge

Admission Requirements

The application process holds the same requirements for International students as for domestic students. The school does not offer any formal ESL support. Therefore, a Skype or personal interview is required for all international applicants with the Office of Admissions and spaces are limited per grade. Students must meet the school’s admission criteria for English proficiency (we accept the TOEFL or SSAT). Application files, interviews and visits should be completed by February 1st. First round decisions will be communicated no later than March 1st. Completed applications received after the above dates will be considered on a space-available basis and decisions will be announced on a rolling basis.

Early Admissions – If you know Saddle River Day is the perfect match for your family, then we recommend applying through the early admissions program. The application due date is Friday, December 1. Families will be notified of their admissions decision by Wednesday, December 13, and must enroll before our winter vacation on Wednesday, December 20.

Why should a family apply early? There is a financial incentive, you have a guaranteed spot in the class (many grades will fill up), and you complete the process early and avoid the stress of waiting through the spring or risking getting closed out of a grade. Families can still apply for financial aid via the FAST application – www.saddleriverday.org/fast

Regular Admissions – The deadline for our regular admissions process is January 22. The committee reviews applications throughout the end of January and then sends admissions decisions out the first week of February. Families then have until the end of February to make their decision. Families can apply for financial aid via the FAST application – www.saddleriverday.org/fast

Rolling Admissions – After the January 22 deadline, we use a rolling admissions process until a grade is full. Grades could be full as early as the spring or spaces could be available into the summer. Financial aid can be limited depending on the time of the year.
